Funeral services for Clara P. Schimank are scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Hunter Street in Tyler with Rev. Art Hill officiating.

 

Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Tyler Memorial Cemetery before the memorial services.

 

Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Monday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.

 

Clara passed away Friday evening in Tyler.

She was born on May 18, 1927 in Lexington, Texas to Henry and Hedwig Drews Polnick.

 

Clara was a wonderful, loving lady who enjoyed her family and church family. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for babies at church, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gifted each grandchild with a wedding quilt. She loved gardening and fishing and together with her sister Meta Rackel was an original "Pie Lady" making pies for 26 years for the E. Texas Fair. She enjoyed yearly vacations with her 3 daughters. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tyler.  She was a member of  the East Texas Quilter Guild.

 

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Linda & David Kittrell – Flint, Connie & Jimmy McGilvray - Mexia, and Karen Cates – Tyler,  She is also survived by two sisters and 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers will be: Andy Kittrell, Jonathan Kittrell, Kenny Kittrell, Matt McGilvray, John McGilvray, Matt Emley and Bryan Serda.

Lloyd James's obits for Dana Hendon and Anastacio Estacio

Dana Ross Hendon, 55, died in Tyler after a brief illness.  He was born September 23, 1958, in Norman, Oklahoma.  He attended public schools in South Dakota, Illinois and Lufkin, Texas.  He was a graduate of Tyler Junior College and attended the University of Texas at Tyler.   He worked as a roofer and as a salesman.  He was a runner, an avid reader, an amateur poet and a kind and gentle soul. 

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Hendon of Frankston; uncle and aunt, William and Mary Ann Hendon of Akron, Ohio and their children; his dear first cousins, Anna, William and Claude and their families and a few distant cousins.  He was predeceased by his sister, Julia and his father Robert of Tyler; his uncle and aunt, Claude and Joy Hendon and their son, John of Oklahoma City.

If desired, gifts may be made to Hospice of East Texas, Relay for Life or a charity of choice.

A memorial service for Dana's family and friends will be held later in Oklahoma.

Anastacio died peacefully and unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 in
Dallas VA Hospital
.

He was born on January 21, 1919 in Bautista, Pangasinan, Philippines. He was a dentist by
profession.

In Sept. 1, 1941, he was inducted to the United States Armed Forces in the Far East (USAFFE)
under the leadership of Capt
. Warren (U. S. Army),
at Camp James B. Ord, in San Miguel, Tarlac,
Philippines and fought against the Japanese Imperial Forces in Bataan, Philippines. During the
Fall of Bataan
i
n April 9, 1942, he was among the thousands of POW's, both Americans and
Filipinos, in the in
famous Bataan Death March. They were concentrated at Camp O'Donnell i
n
Capas
, Tarlac where he contracted malaria. When he had fully recovered from malaria,
he
joined the USAFFE Luzon Guerilla Army Forces until the end of WWII in 1946
.
And because of
this act of bravery and heroism du
ring the WWII, the U.S. Government recognized him togethe
r
with the other thousands of Filipinos by granting them as Naturalized U. S. citizen.

He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita, daughter Maria Luisa, and son Emmanuel.

He is survived by his sisters Luz Canonizado and Lily Rodrigo, both of San Diego, California;
sister Divina Fe Delos Santos, Philippines
; son Lito and wife Vicky, Tyler; daughter Stella,
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; grandchildren Mary Anne, Anastacio III, and Alvin,
great grandchild

David Gatlin officiating.

 

Lois passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Tyler.

 

She was born on September 17, 1930 in Zwolle, Louisiana to the late Roy and Jewell Johnson. Lois married Rogie Eldon McCullar at age 17 and they were happily married for 45 years until his death in November, 1992.

 

Lois was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church where she played piano for her Sunday school class.  She lived in Orange, Texas; Tripoli, Libya-North Africa; Artesia, New Mexico; Henderson, Texas; then Tyler.  Lois' mom was a wonderful cook and she took after her mom.  People loved to see her coming with the home-made cinnamon rolls or her desserts; in fact any food she cooked was memorable.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Conrad and husband, Robert of Midland, Texas and Connie Maxwell and husband, Troy of Henderson, Texas; sister, Johnnie Smith of Texarkana, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Whitlock and her husband, Chris of Overton, Texas, Stacie Hutchinson and her husband Vic of Midland, Texas, Cody Maxwell of Henderson, Texas, and Misty Maxwell of Henderson, Texas; great-grandchildren, Gage and Cole Whitlock of Overton, Texas, Zoey Hutchinson of Midland, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion, Bill Robertson of Tyler.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas.

Elizabeth Harwick Lee, known as 'Betty' to her friends, was lovingly called 'Granny' by her four grandchildren, and their cousins. She
passed away in Tyler, Texas on Tuesday, November 19, 2013
.

Betty was born July 4, 1922 to Jay L. Harwick and E. Loretta Lawler Harwick in Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from high
school in Rochester as valedictorian. She graduated 'Cum Laude' from Northwestern University in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in
chemistry. After her return to Rochester, she worked in the Mayo Clinic Research chemistry lab from 1944 to 1949 on the isolation
and production of cortisone. During this time, she married Dr
. Madison J.
Lee, Jr. Following completion of his residency in General
Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Betty and Mat moved to Tyler, Texas where they established his practice and raised a family
.
Her
husband, Mat, passed away March 25, 1965.

Subsequently, Betty focused her attention on her children, and pursuing a career in education. She taught mathematics at St.
Gregory Elementary School and T.K. Gorman High School during 1967 and 1968. She obtained her master's degree in mathematics
from East Texas State in Commerce in 1970. She then taught mathematics at Tyler Junior College from 1970 to 1988. She retired
from mathematics in 1988, and turned her attention to helping raise two of her grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Lee. She remained
an important role model, and loving grandmother throughout the rest of her life.

Betty was an active community leader and was a past member of several Boards including Red Cross, United Way, Camp Fire Girls,
Smith County Medical Auxiliary, and Friends of the Arts at UT Tyler. She was president of the Smith County Medical Auxiliary in
1963. She also was active in many organizations including Garden Club, Literary Club, Junior League of Tyler, Gamma Phi Beta
Sorority, Mortar Board and May Queen's Court
.
In addition, she was active in the Immaculate Conception Church including
membership in the Altar Society and the Perpetual Adoration Society. She believed strongly in education and was a past member of
the Tyler Catholic School Board, the Tyler Diocesan School Board, and the Immaculate Conception Parish Council
.

During her lifetime, Betty had many interests. She loved to travel, and enjoyed Opera and museums. She valued her friends and
enjoyed playing Mah Jongg with many of them for many years.

She is survived by her three children Madison (Mat) J. Lee, Ill, Elizabeth (Liz) S. Lee, and Charles (Chuck) H. Lee, as well as her four
grandchildren Madison J. Lee IV, Alison KL Moyer, Alexander A
.
Lee, and Andrew M. Lee. Other significant members of her
'extended family' include Arielle S. Lee, Jenna M. Lee, Lindsey Lee, Erik Moyer, Mary Frances Morris, Elizabeth Brock and, of course,
"The Cousins" including: Karra, Tom, Arielle and Thomas Damiana; David, Elizabeth, Sophia, Jonathan, and Eli Shebay; Tasia and
Tucker Singleton; Andrew Michael Shebay; Elle Shebay; Laura and Ben Fuller; Andrew George Shebay.

She is preceded in death by her husband Madison J. Lee, Jr., MD (10-11-1918 to 3-25-1965), and her son John Harwick Lee (11-23-
1950 to 2-7-1951).

Special thanks to Maggie Galarza for her kind care and attention to Granny.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Lloyd James Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at 5-7pm with a Rosary at 6pm on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1pm at the Chapel of Saints Peter and

Paul on the T.K. Gorman campus with Monsignor Milam Joseph officiating.

Darryl was the youngest child of Howard and Alice Towne, born on May 22, 1962. He was an amazing man who loved riding his Harley, watching The Walking Dead, and so much more. Most of all, Darryl was a family man. Among the closest members of his family were his children: Darryl Jr., Jennifer, Jami, Maverick, Alexia, and Tamara; his wife : Kandie Towne; his mother: Alice Towne, and his eight sisters and brothers. Linda Lorene Smith, age 76, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Tyler, passed away in the late morning hours of Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Healthcare Center.  Linda was born on January 28, 1937 in Bullard, Texas to James Woodrow and Lonnie Marie Stephens Clements; they preceded her in death.  Linda was a very loving woman to both her family and beloved friends.  She had a funny sense of humor that could brighten up anyone’s day and she loved listening to music.

Linda is survived by three sons, Kenneth Brian Smith of Tyler, Keith Patrick Smith of Tyler, and Kenyon Clements Smith of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, J.W. Homer Lee McClendon, Jr., age 67, of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home.  Homer was born on July 21, 1946 in Smith County, Texas to Homer Lee, Sr. and Ruth Aline Shaver McClendon; they preceded him in death.  Homer served his country in the United States Army.  His profession was a painter but he was most proud of his time at Billups where he served as manager for 14 years.  He also enjoyed working with the sheriff’s department.  Homer was a Baptist and loved his God.  He had a heart some might call too big but for Homer, taking care of his friends was his life

Homer is survived by one son, Kenny McClendon, and wife Misty, of Jacksonville; one daughter, Mistie Thompson, and husband John, of Lindale; sister, Judy South, and husband Don, of Troup; and by four granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter, that had his heart, he liked to call “Sweet Tater”.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Luther McClendon, Sr., Betty Hukill, Alice Gray, and Catheline Feazell.

Services for Homer Lee McClendon, Jr. will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Rev. Audra Neil Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Meador Cemetery with Justin McClendon, Luther McClendon, Jr., Ricky McClendon, Tony McClendon, Eddie Owens, Johnny Owens, and Michael Powell serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

 

Marjorie Lucille Cox, age 93, of Tyler, passed away in the late evening hours of Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Tyler.  She was born on October 19, 1920 in Tyler.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Clifton.  Mr. and Mrs. Cox owned a variety of business throughout their lifetimes.  In her free time, Marjorie enjoyed embroidering and croquetting.  She also loved to cook.

Marjorie is survived by one daughter, Diane Calloway; two granddaughters, Cathy Stowers and Angela Calloway; one grandson Brian Calloway; and by one great-grandson, Kyle Stowers.

Services will be held at 10:00 P.M., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Todd Christian Lange, 23, of Flint are scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Green Acres Bowling Alley.  Come as you are; late comers welcome.

 

Todd was born on August 6, 1990 in San Diego, California.  He passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Flint.

 

He attended elementary school in El Cajon, California and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2009.  He managed the Kidd Jones Exxon Station in Gresham.

 

Todd was an outgoing, loving individual.  He was full of life and was a faithful friend.  Many friends and whole families loved him like their own.  His second home was Green Acres Bowling Alley.  One of his great passions was bowling, and he was an accomplished bowler with seven sanctioned 300 games to his credit.  He had a passion for classical music and loved to play the piano.

 

He will be missed by many, but his family will hold a place in their hearts for him for eternity.  There is now a piece missing that can never be replaced. 

 

Todd is survived by his twin brother Tyler, as well as brothers, Sean, Jeremy, Joshua and Casey; sisters, Shannon, Kim, and Megan.  He is also survived by too many aunts, uncles and cousins to mention.  Special aunt and uncle, Beverly and Calvin Marks and Aunt Julie; his cat Spaz and way too many friends to mention.  His second family, Scott and Susie Shipman and their children and grand children and his Mom and Dad, John and Mary Lange also survive.

obit for Dr. Don Allen - newest obit from Lloyd James in Tyler, Texas

Dr. "Don" Donald Anderson Allen, 60, of Tyler, died Friday, October 25, 2013.

                He was born to Dr. Eugene M. and "Toben" Sarah Elizabeth Allen, January 26, 1953 in Tyler, Tx.  Don graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1971 and received his Associates degree from Tyler Junior College in 1973.  He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1977 from the University of Texas at Houston.   Don was married for 39 years to his wife, "Cece" Cynthia Boyle Allen.

                Don practiced dentistry in Tyler for over 36 years.  He considered his dedicated office staff, (Karen Hansen, Sherrie Frazier, Mary Ann Hoffman, and Rhonda Weathers) as his extended family and enjoyed his work with them. He was awarded Fellowships in both the Academy of General Dentistry and the Fellow International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics. He was a member of the Smith County Dental Society, the East Texas Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association, and was a member of the Tyler Junior College Dental Hygiene Development Task Force.

                He was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday school class.  He was an Eagle Scout and continued in leadership with the Boy Scouts of America as a leader in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and was currently a leader in Crew 369.  He was an active Brotherhood member of the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America, the Order of the Arrow. 

                Don always enjoyed spending time with his family.  He inspired others to be ready to try new things and joined in many adventurous activities with his family and friends; whether it was scuba diving, skiing, dance lessons, mission trips to Guatemala, sky diving, or running.  Don always strived to be helpful and available to anyone.  

                Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Eugene Allen and his wife, Toben, of Tyler, and his older brother, Dr. David M. Allen of Capistrano Beach, Ca.

                Don is survived by his wife "Cece" and two college aged children, Christin Allen of College Station, Tx and Brian Allen of Stephenville, Tx.  He is also survived by two sisters of Tyler, Susan Allen Long and Sarah Elizabeth Allen Hoover and her husband, Mike Hoover, a sister in law Carol Frans Allen of Capistrano Beach, and several nieces and nephews.

                Visitation will be held at the Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 27th.  Funeral arrangements will be held Monday, October 28th at 2 PM at the Green Acres Baptist Church chapel.

                Memorial donations may be made to the proposed Tyler Junior College "Dr. Eugene M. Allen" Dental Hygiene Building.

Donald D. Smith

Don D. Smith, 90, passed away peacefully at Fireside Lodge in Fort Worth Texas on October 21st. He was born on October 23, 1922 in Oiltown, Oklahoma and he graduated from Bowlegs Oklahoma High School. He attended Kilgore Junior College in Texas and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He met June Jeanette Brady while they were in Bowlegs Grade School and after graduation they married in 1941. Don's business career with Gulf Oil Corporation included twenty two years living and working in Venezuela, South America. He and June enjoyed traveling worldwide before and after they retired in 1977 in Tyler Texas.

Don is survived by his son Kenneth and his wife Karen of Southlake, TX,  grandchildren: Nicole McCardle and her husband Joseph of Ovett, MS, Frank and Kate Lyn Smith of Petal, MS, Polly Wright and her husband Rodney of Southlake TX, six great-grandchildren, his sister Maxine Clapp and her husband Joe, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife June J. Smith who passed away in 1996.

Graveside services were held in Cathedral in the Pines at 11am on October 24, 2013, with Rev. Sherman Mayfield of Lake Tyler Baptist Church officiating. Memorials may be made through Lloyd James Funeral Home 1011 East First Street, Tyler, TX 75701.
