Smith Obit

 

Linda Lorene Smith, age 76, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Tyler, passed away in the late morning hours of Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Healthcare Center.  Linda was born on January 28, 1937 in Bullard, Texas to James Woodrow and Lonnie Marie Stephens Clements; they preceded her in death.  Linda was a very loving woman to both her family and beloved friends.  She had a funny sense of humor that could brighten up anyone’s day and she loved listening to music.

Linda is survived by three sons, Kenneth Brian Smith of Tyler, Keith Patrick Smith of Tyler, and Kenyon Clements Smith of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, J.W. Clements, and wife Marsha Ann, of Tyler, Jerry Lamor Clements, and wife Thelma, of Flint, and Mr. and Mrs. Clenton Richard Clements, of Colorado; daughter-in-law, Sandra Milner of Mount Pleasant; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and special friends.

She was also preceded in death by on daughter, Lisa Jean Smith, and one sister, Joyce Marie Vance.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 1, 2013 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with John David Wright officiating.

Obits

Homer Lee McClendon, Jr., age 67, of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home.  Homer was born on July 21, 1946 in Smith County, Texas to Homer Lee, Sr. and Ruth Aline Shaver McClendon; they preceded him in death.  Homer served his country in the United States Army.  His profession was a painter but he was most proud of his time at Billups where he served as manager for 14 years.  He also enjoyed working with the sheriff’s department.  Homer was a Baptist and loved his God.  He had a heart some might call too big but for Homer, taking care of his friends was his life

Homer is survived by one son, Kenny McClendon, and wife Misty, of Jacksonville; one daughter, Mistie Thompson, and husband John, of Lindale; sister, Judy South, and husband Don, of Troup; and by four granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter, that had his heart, he liked to call “Sweet Tater”.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Luther McClendon, Sr., Betty Hukill, Alice Gray, and Catheline Feazell.

Services for Homer Lee McClendon, Jr. will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Rev. Audra Neil Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Meador Cemetery with Justin McClendon, Luther McClendon, Jr., Ricky McClendon, Tony McClendon, Eddie Owens, Johnny Owens, and Michael Powell serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

 

Marjorie Lucille Cox, age 93, of Tyler, passed away in the late evening hours of Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Tyler.  She was born on October 19, 1920 in Tyler.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Clifton.  Mr. and Mrs. Cox owned a variety of business throughout their lifetimes.  In her free time, Marjorie enjoyed embroidering and croquetting.  She also loved to cook.

Marjorie is survived by one daughter, Diane Calloway; two granddaughters, Cathy Stowers and Angela Calloway; one grandson Brian Calloway; and by one great-grandson, Kyle Stowers.

Services will be held at 10:00 P.M., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Todd Christian Lange, 23, of Flint are scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Green Acres Bowling Alley.  Come as you are; late comers welcome.

 

Todd was born on August 6, 1990 in San Diego, California.  He passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Flint.

 

He attended elementary school in El Cajon, California and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2009.  He managed the Kidd Jones Exxon Station in Gresham.

 

Todd was an outgoing, loving individual.  He was full of life and was a faithful friend.  Many friends and whole families loved him like their own.  His second home was Green Acres Bowling Alley.  One of his great passions was bowling, and he was an accomplished bowler with seven sanctioned 300 games to his credit.  He had a passion for classical music and loved to play the piano.

 

He will be missed by many, but his family will hold a place in their hearts for him for eternity.  There is now a piece missing that can never be replaced. 

 

Todd is survived by his twin brother Tyler, as well as brothers, Sean, Jeremy, Joshua and Casey; sisters, Shannon, Kim, and Megan.  He is also survived by too many aunts, uncles and cousins to mention.  Special aunt and uncle, Beverly and Calvin Marks and Aunt Julie; his cat Spaz and way too many friends to mention.  His second family, Scott and Susie Shipman and their children and grand children and his Mom and Dad, John and Mary Lange also survive.

obit for Dr. Don Allen - newest obit from Lloyd James in Tyler, Texas

Dr. "Don" Donald Anderson Allen, 60, of Tyler, died Friday, October 25, 2013.

                He was born to Dr. Eugene M. and "Toben" Sarah Elizabeth Allen, January 26, 1953 in Tyler, Tx.  Don graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1971 and received his Associates degree from Tyler Junior College in 1973.  He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1977 from the University of Texas at Houston.   Don was married for 39 years to his wife, "Cece" Cynthia Boyle Allen.

                Don practiced dentistry in Tyler for over 36 years.  He considered his dedicated office staff, (Karen Hansen, Sherrie Frazier, Mary Ann Hoffman, and Rhonda Weathers) as his extended family and enjoyed his work with them. He was awarded Fellowships in both the Academy of General Dentistry and the Fellow International College of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics. He was a member of the Smith County Dental Society, the East Texas Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association, and was a member of the Tyler Junior College Dental Hygiene Development Task Force.

                He was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday school class.  He was an Eagle Scout and continued in leadership with the Boy Scouts of America as a leader in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and was currently a leader in Crew 369.  He was an active Brotherhood member of the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America, the Order of the Arrow. 

                Don always enjoyed spending time with his family.  He inspired others to be ready to try new things and joined in many adventurous activities with his family and friends; whether it was scuba diving, skiing, dance lessons, mission trips to Guatemala, sky diving, or running.  Don always strived to be helpful and available to anyone.  

                Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Eugene Allen and his wife, Toben, of Tyler, and his older brother, Dr. David M. Allen of Capistrano Beach, Ca.

                Don is survived by his wife "Cece" and two college aged children, Christin Allen of College Station, Tx and Brian Allen of Stephenville, Tx.  He is also survived by two sisters of Tyler, Susan Allen Long and Sarah Elizabeth Allen Hoover and her husband, Mike Hoover, a sister in law Carol Frans Allen of Capistrano Beach, and several nieces and nephews.

                Visitation will be held at the Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 27th.  Funeral arrangements will be held Monday, October 28th at 2 PM at the Green Acres Baptist Church chapel.

                Memorial donations may be made to the proposed Tyler Junior College "Dr. Eugene M. Allen" Dental Hygiene Building.

Donald D. Smith

Don D. Smith, 90, passed away peacefully at Fireside Lodge in Fort Worth Texas on October 21st. He was born on October 23, 1922 in Oiltown, Oklahoma and he graduated from Bowlegs Oklahoma High School. He attended Kilgore Junior College in Texas and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He met June Jeanette Brady while they were in Bowlegs Grade School and after graduation they married in 1941. Don's business career with Gulf Oil Corporation included twenty two years living and working in Venezuela, South America. He and June enjoyed traveling worldwide before and after they retired in 1977 in Tyler Texas.

Don is survived by his son Kenneth and his wife Karen of Southlake, TX,  grandchildren: Nicole McCardle and her husband Joseph of Ovett, MS, Frank and Kate Lyn Smith of Petal, MS, Polly Wright and her husband Rodney of Southlake TX, six great-grandchildren, his sister Maxine Clapp and her husband Joe, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife June J. Smith who passed away in 1996.

Graveside services were held in Cathedral in the Pines at 11am on October 24, 2013, with Rev. Sherman Mayfield of Lake Tyler Baptist Church officiating. Memorials may be made through Lloyd James Funeral Home 1011 East First Street, Tyler, TX 75701.

Bradford Obit

Marge Ann Adickes Bradford, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 17, 2013. Marge was born on December 5th, 1933 in Palestine, TX to Alice La Merle Bender and Isaac Newton Adickes; they preceded her in death. She was married to Robert (Bunky) Lynn Bradford on March 29, 1956 in Houston, Texas. Marge is remembered for her active participation and leadership in Women’s Bible Study Fellowship, her devoted service as the children’s coordinator at Bethel Bible Church in Tyler, and her dedication to fulfilling the Great Commission as outlined in Scripture. Before her dementia took over, Marge loved spending her time with the choir of Faith Community Church in Tyler and serving meals to the people of the Salvation Army. Marge was a devoted Christian, family woman that spent her existence blessing her family and her friends in every way she could.

Marge is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 57 years, Bunky Bradford; daughter Merri Bradford Jones, and husband Benny, of Tyler; granddaughters, Jessica Jones Mize, and husband Jason, and Hannah Jones Domenech, and husband Jon, all of Tyler; three great-grandchildren, Julianna, Jason David, and Jonathan; sister, Brenda Hardt, and husband Bill; nieces, Alice Dorsey, and husband Jay, and Emily Yao, and husband Pete; nephew, Austin Hardt; and great-niece and nephews, Carson, Will, and Katie.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 19th at Lloyd James Funeral Home with a private family burial Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Christian Information Ministries (in care of Cecil Price), Faith Community Church, or Women’s Bible Study Fellowship of Tyler, TX.

obit for Nell Bobo from Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas

Nell Frances Hicks Bobo, 91, left this life Monday morning, October 14, 2013. Nell was born on June 16, 1922 in Tyler, Texas to Clifton and Janie Hicks. She graduated from Tyler High School and soon married Carroll Hart Bobo in August, 1941. She spent the early years of life as a homemaker and raising her children.  She later spent 22 years as the floor manager at the Tyler Petroleum Club.   Nell & Carroll were instrumental in the founding of Pollard Memorial United Methodist Church and were designated as the number 1 & 2 charter members.  Her favorite past time was the love of gardening. Nell is survived by her children, Carroll E. Bobo and wife, Mollie of Lindale, Denise Bobo Connolly and husband Michael of Plano, sister Brownie Eikner of Tyler, great-grandchildren Emma Tucker and Kate Tucker of Dallas. She was preceded in death by husband, Carroll H. Bobo and granddaughter, Amy Katherine Bobo Tucker. Family visitation will be held Wednesday, October 16th from 5-7 pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home. A private burial will be held on Thursday, October 17th at 11:00 am at Liberty Hill Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Pollard UMC. Stanley Obit for Lloyd James

Mary Frances Stanley, age 74, of Tyler, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Monday, October 14, 2013 at her home.  Mary was born on January 18, 1939 in Whitehouse to Will Ross and Ruby Lee Lemley Owens; they preceded her in death.  She was married to Donald Leroy Stanley.  Mary loved church and she loved God.  She was a member of New Life Baptist Church.  Mary also loved her family.  She was a proud mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who was always everyone’s favorite person.  Mary had a large family and always loved being in the lives of those she loved.

Mary is survived by husband Don of Tyler; children, Mark Humphries, and wife Denise, of Tyler, David Humphries of Tyler, Dale Humphries of Chandler, Tracy Humphries, and wife Christy, of Lindale, Paul Humphries, and wife Julia, of Tyler, and Tara Halsey, and husband, Cody, of Tyler; daughter-in-law, Sandy Humphries of Bullard; step-children, Debora Burket of Flint, Karen Comer of Flint, Jimmy Crabtree of Bullard, Donny Stanley of Tyler, Tracy Stanley of Tyler, Donna Phipps of Tyler; brother, Alvin Owens; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and special friends.

Mary was also preceded in death by one son, Eugene Humphries, and by 8 brothers and sisters.

Dudley officiating.  Burial is in Meador Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

 

Mrs. Ponder passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Tyler

 

She was born on February 21, 1941 in Rusk to the late Jack and Julia Barnette Pierson Harris.  She was a homemaker.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Leo Ponder; brothers, Clifford and Howard Harris; son, Jerry Glen Ponder and daughter Shirley Ann Ponder.

 

She is survived by daughter Julia Owens and husband Norman of Tyler; daughter Marilyn Salzar and husband Tommy of Houston; grandchildren, Dawn McLain, Fawn Kerr, Michael Owens, Kevin Salzar; Cassey Salzar, Craig Salzar, Kyle Salzar and Mary Pierce and several great grandchildren.
